E is for ... Energy

If you want something doing, ask a busy person.

The equation is simple. Energetic people achieve their goals. Which is why we’re bouncing into March with E for Energy.

Say “Yes!” Go on, say the word out loud. Now, say it again. Put a little oomph into your voice this time. Say the word with smiling eyes. Too often people are hesitant to say “yes”. They’re afraid they’re committing themselves to taking on endless extra work. You don’t have to do that. For example, you can say, “Yes, I’d love to help you and here’s how I might be able to do that” or “Yes, I’d love to help you and I’m afraid I’m not able to at this time.” By changing that initial internal response from ‘I can’t be bothered’ to ‘Bring it on!’ you’re infusing yourself – and others - with positive energy. Even if you can’t help, by indicating a willing attitude (‘yes, and’) you’re demonstrating positive energy.

By meeting every task with an energetic “Yes!” the drudgery falls away. By raising a smile your mood lightens. (Did you know that smiling requires fewer muscles than frowning?) By lifting lift your energy to a positive place, others follow and things get done. Bingo! Energy + Enthusiasm = Tasks Accomplished with Less Effort and More Pleasure.

REMEMBER: When you bring energy and enthusiasm to your tasks, others will, too. Their response will fuel your enthusiasm, and the job becomes that much easier. Positive energy inspires others; negative energy brings them down. It’s just more fun being with people who approach life with positive energy.

TIP: Get physical! Take a walk, go for a bike ride, swim, breathe, dance, sing. The energy that you gain from taking positive, energetic action is engaging. Your brain’s alert, your body zings, and you tick off your tasks with enthusiasm.

TECHNICAL STUFF: Eat fresh, seasonal, wholesome foods whenever you can. Processed foods don’t do you any favours. The foods you eat reflect your attitude and feelings about your body and state of mind. Take care of yourself. You’re the only one you’ve got!

WARNING: Unfocused energy leads to chaos. Solution: Direct your energy to reach your goals.

FINALLY: When your day’s over and you have a chance to rest and reflect, the sense of fulfilment that you experience from meeting the day’s challenges with positive energy, combined with a genuine tiredness from living an active life, will have you sleeping like a little lamb.

COMMENTS: Because we know you’ve got an arsenal of experiences, we invite you to share your thoughts, observations, and ideas about positive energy with our readers. Send them to ideas@kuhnkecommunication.com
